Payton is a vibrant senior at Olentangy High School. Amidst all of the craziness of the pandemic, Payton experienced a night like no other when she was crowned homecoming queen during a Friday night football game. Payton described her feelings that night as both happy and a little nervous. Dressed in a beautiful fall dress and her snazzy brown boots, Payton was crowned queen with a silky sash and a blue crystal crown. She was living a real life fairytale.
“It was a proud moment for my husband and me,” shared Payton’s mom, Patty. “We love and appreciate the fact that the Olentangy students have always accepted and embraced her because Payton loves them. The moment we learned that the students chose Payton, it was quite emotional. The Olentangy staff and community have always been so kind and supportive. It was truly the crowning moment of all 12 years.”
Along with the title queen, Payton is so many other things. She is an active participant in Buddy Up tennis, dance, Young Life, and choir. People who know Payton describe her as friendly, humble, and kind. If you spend any length of time with Payton you will be smiling from her infectious personality. It’s not hard to see why her peers voted her queen.
When Payton graduates, she will spend a few years in the Olentangy Act program. After that, Payton plans to be a successful business woman who runs her own business.
We closed the interview with a few inspiring words from Payton. “Be brave and kind. I’ll always be a Brave.”
We cannot wait to see what the future has in store for you Payton!
